Exciting News: Introducing NGSL Text Profiler & More!

This month, we're thrilled to announce the launch of our brand-new NGSL Text Profiler tool, along with two additional AI-powered tools for text generation and simplification. Access all three tools conveniently from the new NGSL Profiler website.

NGSL Profiler, developed by Dr. Charles Browne, utilizes wordlists tailored for ESL/EFL learners from the NGSL Project. It assists in analyzing text difficulty and simplifying content to match your students' proficiency levels. With seven NGSL word lists and the latest NGSL-GR word list for the creation of graded reading materials, it's a comprehensive resource.

Based on the old OGTE (Online Graded Text Editor) tool developed by Dr. Charles Browne and Dr. Rob Waring, NGSL Profiler shares functionality with tools like VocabProfile by Tom Cobb and AntWordProfiler by Laurence Anthony. Unlike the many complex profiling tools designed primarily for the needs of language researchers, NGSL Profiler aims to empower classroom teachers and content developers with user-friendly features.

Using NGSL Profiler is straightforward: paste your text, select a word list and level, then hit "Go". The tool shows word coverage (including proper nouns), allowing manual adjustments for personalized analysis. If coverage falls below 95%, simplify the text by replacing or omitting challenging words until reaching the target.

Designed by Dr. Charles Browne, co-creator of NGSL wordlists, and developed in collaboration with Poodll, NGSL Profiler is another free service by CBC Consulting.

Excitingly, NGSL Profiler also introduces two new AI-powered tools: "Text Generator" for creating English fiction tailored to second language learners, and "Text Rewriter" for simplifying texts in terms of length and complexity. More information on how to use these tools can be found in the FAQ section of the NGSL Profiler

We're thrilled to bring these tools to you and eagerly await your feedback for further enhancements. Try them out and simplify your teaching process today!
